Eid al-Adha 2020 special: 7 facts about Prophet Muhammad

All know the name of Prophet Muhammad. He is one of the most prominent people of Islam since then. But most people do not know any specific things about the Prophet Muhammad.

A writer named Leslie Hazleton has written a book on the life of Prophet Muhammad. The name of the book is "The First Muslim". In this, she gives information about many such facts of his life, which many people do not know. Some such facts are -

  • His father died before his birth. After this, his living was managed by the people of the Bedu tribe for the first 5 years. When he came to his mother in Mecca, within a year, she too passed away. He was financially weak after being orphaned at the age of 6. In Damask, he worked as a boy taking care of a camel.
  • According to the hadith, it is believed that in the decision of Prophet Muhammad's marriage to Khadija, the message could be married to a widow and a woman of old age, this message was hidden. While few people know that he married first for love. When Prophet Muhammad married a 40-year-old widow, he was 25 years old. He went ahead and proposed marriage. Many scholars believe that Khadija was a rich widow but early evidence suggests that the marriage was done due to mutual love and respect. Most of the nine marriages performed in his later life were done by Prophet Muhammad to convey social messages.
  • There was doubt and sorrow in his mind when he became Prophet. He was scared when the Quran came. This happened to him on a mountain outside Mecca in 610 AD. He was 40 at the time. In his own words, this pain was so much that I felt like I am dying. He was getting confused as if something was happening to him. He was also feared if he deserved to be a prophet!
  • Initially, he too adopted the method of peaceful protests. People started challenging the corruption and arrogance prevailing among the rich people of Mecca, inspired by their messages. Mecca was a prosperous city during that time. Muhammad put such things about the rich in front of the public that the public turned against the rich. Which enraged the rich. Muhammad wanted reform but the rich saw it as a revolt against them.
  • At first, he was a supporter of peace. He chose a method of peaceful protest for the first 12 years against the atrocities on himself and his supporters in Mecca. But atrocities on him and his supporters continued to increase. In 622 those atrocities grew so much that they had to leave Mecca and go to Madina, 200 miles away. After this, they had three battles with Mecca. After this Mecca surrendered under an agreement. And also called him back. In these eight years, he had become a family for Madina. He said that he will stay in Medina.
  • In order to bridge the gap between him and his opponents, he had accepted that the rituals and God of the opponents are also holy but Allah is above all. But later he came to understand that by doing this, he is cheating with his own beliefs because there can be no partner of Allah. At such a time, he had the courage to accept this mistake publicly and he also accepted it in front of the people.
  • He was seriously ill at the end of his life. He passed away without declaring his successor. Because no son was alive, no one could be declared heir.
